From Beethoven to the Beatles, Mr. William covers it all in this highly interactive class that is a student favorite!
This class is designed to give students a basic understanding of music and to inspire an appreciation for music from a variety of genres and cultures. We will apply the elements of music to our favorite music and investigate how music has changed throughout history. Students will recognize the development of music from a historical and cultural perspective while understanding the fundamentals of music. Class time will also give students a chance to discover basic music terminology along with instrument families.
Students will demonstrate their knowledge through various hands-on activities, including a presentation on a composer of their choice.
Throughout this 14 week course, students will explore a range of topics such as:
- An extensive array of music genres
- Meet the orchestra instrument introduction
- Exposure to many cultures around the world through their music
- Music theory basics
- Song dissection
Homework Expectations: students will have to research and complete their presentations at home.
Food Note: there is no snack time scheduled for this class but students may bring a leak proof water bottle to class.
