History Through Architecture:

Students have requested this class to be offered again! Ms. Adrianne has curated this class based off of her love of travel, history, architecture, and cultures.

This class offers a captivating journey through time, delving into the rich tapestry of human history by examining the evolution of architectural styles, techniques, and cultural influences. This interdisciplinary course integrates elements of history, art, culture, and technology to provide students with a holistic understanding of the world's architectural heritage.

Throughout the course, students will embark on a chronological exploration, starting from ancient civilizations. By examining iconic structures, students will gain insight into the socio-political, economic, and religious factors that shaped architectural design and construction methods.

Through a combination of lectures, discussions, multimedia presentations, and hands-on activities, students will analyze architectural blueprints, study architectural drawings, and be completing many creative exercises to deepen their understanding of architectural principles and techniques.

During this 14-week course students will have:
  • Developed a comprehensive understanding of the history of architecture but also cultivated critical thinking skills, visual literacy, and an appreciation for the enduring significance of architecture in shaping human civilization. Whether students aspire to pursue careers in architecture, art history, urban planning, or simply wish to deepen their understanding of the world around them, this class offers a dynamic and enriching educational experience.
  • Hands-on Projects & Portfolio: reinforce the knowledge of facts and information covered during class in a student created portfolio

Homework: students will have to research and complete their architecture presentation at home.

Grading: there will be no grades for this class but full class participation is still expected
